Mom Card Using Vinyl

Hi guys!  Here is my Design team project for ScrapbookerPhD.blogspot.com.  Faith has given me my first Design Team opportunity and I'm so excited to be joining her and the rest of the DT.  The challenge this month is to use vinyl, which I did on this Mom card.  Below is a description of how I made the card and how I used vinyl in some of my elements.  I really hope that everyone can join us on this challenge.

The base card is 5x5 and made out of white card stock paper.  The pattern papers I used are from a 6x6 pad by My Mind's Eye.  I inked the edges of all the papers with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Antique Linen and Tattered Rose.  All of the blue embellishments are made with vinyl.  This includes the MOM speech bubble, the trim at the top and bottom of the card, and the heart in the bottom right hand flower cluster .  The vinyl was white but to fit my project I colored it with Tim Holtz alcohol inks.  Then I cut the shapes out with my Cricut die cutting machine.  The flowers are from Recollections and my local dollar store.  I plan on giving this card to my mommy, probably for Mother's Day :)

Thanks for stopping by :) Let me know if you have any questions or comments xoxo Randi

Dream Big

Dream Big!  This is a 5x5 card made from DCWV pattern paper stacks.  On top of the glittery red base card I layered some yellow diagonal paper as well as newspaper printed paper.  I tore the edges of both for some texture.  There are also a few drops of Heidi Swapp mustard ink on top of the layers.  The Dream Big sentiment is a cut out from DCWV, which is raised a bit with pop dots. Cheese cloth is stuffed behind the sentiment.  The finishing touch is a group of flowers in the corner with a bling center and a small paper butterfly.  Thanks for stopping by :)

Paris Dress Form

Hi guys!  I'm here to share another card with you.  This is a 5x5 square card.  I used the Tres Chic paper stack by DCWV.  I picked out a few coordinating papers, one for the base of the card and two for the background of the cutout pictures.  The pink paper I added some Gesso with a stencil.  I put some Heidi Swapp mist droplets on the beige Paris paper.  The dress form and flowers are cutout from the paper collection.  I stamped the word beautiful and cut it into a banner for the sentiment.  Behind the papers I added cheese cloth to the left side and pink lace to the right side.  Some lucky lady will be getting this :)

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Hi guys!  I've been so busy at work lately but I'm finely etching out some time to blog.  Here's my latest scrapbook layout.  It's of me and my brother pretending to be chili peppers outside of our local Chili's Restaurant.  I used DCWV Vintage Collector for this layout.  The background paper is a dark pink with a tone on tone map design.

I cut out some hexagon shapes from a piece of paper in the collection and then glued them in a kind of honeycomb shape of the left side of the layout. Then, I smeared some Gesso over the background to tone down the color a bit.  Then I took a background stamp and used it with my Heidi Swapp mustard archival ink and stamped it randomly all over the page.

On the top and bottom corners of the left side of the layout I sprayed Heidi Swapp Muster and Primrose Color Shine mists.  On top of the I used a new toy I got at the craft store.  It's Liquitex Glass Beads and I applied it with a Heidi Swapp stencil.

Most of these embellishments next to the pictures are a combination of things from my stash.  Some from Dear Lizzy, Amy Tangerine and DCWV

I dyed the lace around the top and bottom of the picture with my Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks.  I felt like it didn't stand out in it's original cream color.  Then I added a few ink drops from my Heidi Swapp mists around the page.  The title is made from SN@P! and Thicker letters

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Let me know if you have any questions or comments xoxo Randi

My Purrfect Storm

Hi guys!  I'm here to share a scrapbook layout.  I haven't done these in a while but the other night I was on a roll.  This layout is a picture of my kitty Stormy when she was just a baby, many years ago.  The paper pad I used was DCWV Sunday Afternoon.  I love that stack.  It has so many whimsical images. The background paper that I started off with was a pink grid paper which I added some smeared Gesso to.  Then I misted it a bit with some Heidi Swapp Teal Color Shine.

Next I added some modeling paste with a polka dot stencil.  On top of that I sprayed some Mister Huey's blue ink.  The clouds were cut out from a page in the stack.  I also used them in my Randi's Crafts Name Canvas. They are so cute.  They have some fake washi tape on them which is already on the paper but I added additional washi tape for more interest.

The embellishment cluster was started with some cheese cloth coming out of the right side of the layered papers under the picture.  I stuck a "wonderful" tab under the right side of the picture which was cut out from the paper pad.  The corner was finished off with some flowers from my stash as well as a kite cutout.

My title is made from SN@P! and Thicker letters.  In the background you can see the Prima stamp I used with Tim Holtz Distress Ink as well as a few additional ink splatters

Thanks so much for stopping by! xoxo Randi

You Are Just My Type

I really like this card.  It's cute and was really simple to make.  On the white base card I took a Heidi Swapp stencil and misted some purple ink on it.  Then I laid down four different strips of washi tape.  The typewriter and hearts are cut out from the DCWV Sunday Afternoon Stack.

If you have any questions or comments I would love to hear them xoxo Randi

Hello SOG

Here's my new Hello card.  I started with some teal and gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine mists on the base of the white card.  On top of that I put some pattern paper with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine drops in Primrose.  The Hello sentiment is from Me and My Big Ideas Cards Made Easy.  The girl is a stamp from Some Odd Girl which I colored with watercolors.

Castle Through Window

YouTube Video of Project

My latest canvas is a window looking out onto a castle in the distance.  I started with pasting a piece of brown pattern paper from DCWV Dear Jane Stack on an 8x10 canvas. Before putting on the printed window pane paper from the same stack, I measured and cut out the windows from the back of the canvas.  Then I added a bit of texture around the inside of the windows with modeling paste.  Next I measured the castle paper from DCWV Once Upon a Time Stack and glued it to the back of the canvas.

I used Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in Rock Candy around the brown part of the part of the window.  I was trying to make this brown paper appear as wallpaper.

My flowers are from Recollections and the dollar store.  I tried to tuck them behind the window to make it seem like they were creeping in from the outside of the window.

Along with the Crackle Paint I tore some paper away from the canvas.  I wanted the wallpaper to look worn and old.  I love the castle in the distance :)

Among the flowers I used some metal and polymer clay trinkets.  Can you spot the clock key and bird?

As always if you have any questions or comments I would love to hear them xoxo Randi

Butterfly Girl Canvas

Hi guys! Here's some pics on my latest canvas. It's called Butterfly Girl.  I'm using inspirations from my Inspirations for March Pinterest board.  Every month I'm going to pin colors and themes that will inspire my work for that month. I started off with watercolors on all sides of the canvas.  On the background I used a transfer technique where I glue an image on one side of pattern paper to the canvas and then, with water, rub off the other side of the paper.  If you don't know this technique leave a comment and I'll do a tutorial on it.  On top of that I added some washi tape and lace then sprayed the canvas.  Then I used my latest Heidi Swapp stencil with some modeling paste and purple paint

The girl is a rubber stamp I picked up from Michael's by Penny Black. I stamped her with black ink and used clear embossing powder.  Then I used watercolor pencils to color her.  Around her and through the flowers I ran some cheese cloth for a little more texture

The flowers are all from Recollections, mostly their Simply Pastel line.  And the butterflies are from Prima which I picked up from Hobby Lobby

If you have questions or want to know more please leave me a comment or check out my video on this canvas at youtube/user/RandisCrafts.
